The role
You will work within a multidisciplinary program team to maintain, enhance and modernise thick-client applications developed in VB6.
Responsibilities include:
Developing and supporting VB6 and .
NET applications
Analysing existing functionality and resolving defects
Developing SQL Server databases, stored procedures and queries
Building and maintaining SSIS packages
Supporting data migration, transformation and integration activities
Conducting unit testing, troubleshooting and performance optimisation
Contributing to code reviews, technical documentation and solution design




Supporting CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and Git
Working closely with business analysts, architects, testers and stakeholders
What you'll bring
Solid experience with VB6, which is mandatory
Experience developing Windows Forms or thick-client applications
Knowledge of .
NET and C#
Strong SQL Server and T-SQL skills
Experience with stored procedures, functions, triggers and views
Experience with SSIS, ETL or data migration
Understanding of SDLC, Agile delivery and development best practices
Strong analytical, troubleshooting and stakeholder engagement skills
Experience with PBIRS, data warehousing, microservices, Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipelines will be highly regarded.
This Canberra-based contract is suited to a developer who can confidently support legacy technology while helping deliver practical system modernisation.
A current Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check is required.
