Operational Risk Manager – Financial Services

We're working with a growing financial services business looking for an Operational Risk Manager to join its risk function during a period of development and transformation.
This role sits across the business, providing second-line oversight and working closely with stakeholders to improve risk management, challenge existing approaches and drive better outcomes.
This isn't a purely process-driven risk role. They're looking for someone who can think independently, connect the dots and come up with practical solutions, rather than simply follow a framework or escalates every problem.
What you'll be doing:
Working with business stakeholders to identify, assess and manage operational risks
Challenging RCSAs, control effectiveness and existing risk management practices
Overseeing incidents, root-cause analysis and remediation activities
Providing risk input into business change and strategic initiatives
Analysing risk trends and helping improve risk reporting and governance
Contributing to the development of the wider risk management framework




What they're looking for:
Experience in Operational Risk, Risk & Controls, Business Controls or a similar financial services role
Strong understanding of RCSAs, controls, incident management and remediation
Someone who can challenge stakeholders, think critically and influence decisions
A proactive approach to problem-solving, with examples of personally driving improvements
Comfortable working through ambiguity and taking ownership without needing constant direction
Nice to have:
Experience in banking, non-bank lending, insurance or another regulated financial services environment
Exposure to risk framework uplift, enterprise risk profiles or risk-in-change
Experience contributing to strategic initiatives or improving how risk is managed
