The OrganisationBehind a business with diverse commercial activities sits a finance function responsible for managing a high volume of transactions, maintaining accurate financial information and supporting the movement of funds across different areas of the organisation.This opportunity sits within a privately owned business where the finance team works closely with operational stakeholders and plays an key role in keeping day-to-day financial activities running effectively.For someone early in their accounting career, the position offers the chance to develop a strong understanding of how commercial transactions flow through a business, while progressively gaining exposure to broader financial accounting and reporting activities.The RoleWorking alongside experienced finance professionals, you'll play an important role in managing accounts receivable activities while supporting the wider team across financial transactions, reconciliations and month-end reporting.The role offers a mix of transactional ownership and developing accounting responsibilities, making it well suited to someone who has built a foundation in finance and is ready to expand their experience.Managing accounts receivable activities, including invoicing, reconciliations and collectionsWorking with operational teams to ensure sales, purchasing and logistics transactions are accurately recordedAssisting with accounts payable and general finance transactionsPreparing bank and intercompany reconciliationsSupporting cash flow monitoring and treasury-related accounting activitiesMaintaining general ledger records and preparing journalsAssisting with month-end close and the preparation of financial reportsPreparing draft management reporting and supporting schedulesSupporting BAS, FBT and payroll tax compliance requirementsAssisting with year-end reporting and external audit processesIdentifying discrepancies and helping maintain accurate financial recordsAbout youYou'll have some practical experience in an accounting or finance support position and be looking for an opportunity to build on that foundation.We're looking for someone who is comfortable working with financial transactions, enjoys getting the details right and is motivated to develop their accounting skills.At least two years' experience in an Assistant Accountant, Accounts Receivable or similar finance positionA degree in Accounting or a related disciplineRecently commenced or currently studying towards CA/CPA qualificationExperience with invoicing, reconciliations and payment processingA sound understanding of accounting principles and month-end activitiesStrong Excel skills and confidence working with financial systemsSome exposure to foreign currency transactionsExcellent attention to detail and the ability to manage competing prioritiesGood communication skills and a willingness to work closely with operational stakeholdersA proactive attitude and genuine interest in developing your accounting careerExperience with NetSuite or a similar ERP system would be advantageous, although not essential.On OfferExposure to treasury, cash flow and financial reporting activitiesWork closely with both finance and operational stakeholdersSupport from experienced finance professionalsOpportunity to build your technical accounting skills while completing CA/CPA studiesVaried responsibilities within a privately owned commercial businessBrisbane CBD opportunity with scope for ongoing development
