Join the Nature Network Bendigo Region Board and help shape the future of Landcare in Greater Bendigo
Do you care about the environment, enjoy working with passionate people, and want to gain valuable leadership experience while making a real difference?
Nature Network Bendigo Region is looking for enthusiastic people to join our volunteer Board as a Treasurer or Generalist Advisor
We're a small, grassroots Landcare network with big ambitions. Established to support Landcare and environmental groups across the Bendigo region, we're still in the early stages of our journey, with an annual turnover of around $100,000 and plenty of opportunities to help shape our future.
We're a small organisation, which means everyone contributes. Board members have the opportunity to influence decisions directly, develop recent skills and help build something from the ground up.
We work alongside a diverse and passionate network of local groups, including:
- Axe Creek Landcare.
- Longlea and District Landcare.
- Mandurang Landcare.
- Northern Bendigo Landcare.
- Friends of Strathfieldsaye Streams and Lands (FOSSALS).
- Junortoun Community Action Group (JCAG).
- Friends of the Whipstick.
- Ironbark Gully Friends Landcare.
- Wellsford Forest Friends and Landcare.
- Central Victoria Bat Alliance.
About the Roles
Treasurer
Our Treasurer will work closely with the Board to help establish practical financial and risk management systems that support the implementation of Nature Network's inaugural Strategic Plan.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to develop or expand their experience in not-for-profit governance, financial oversight and strategic planning.
Generalist Advisors
Our Generalist Advisors bring their skills, experience, networks and fresh ideas to support the Board and guide the growth of the organisation.
Working alongside the Chair, Facilitator and Board members, you'll help:
- Shape strategic direction.
- Support organisational growth.
- Contribute to projects and partnerships.
- Foster a positive, inclusive and collaborative culture.
- Help member groups achieve meaningful environmental outcomes.
We welcome applicants from a wide range of backgrounds. Experience in environmental management, community development, governance, communications, finance, project management, fundraising, marketing, human resources or strategic planning would be highly valued.
These positions may be perfect for you if you:
- Are passionate about nature, Landcare or community development.
- Want to gain Board and governance experience.
- Are early in your career and looking to build leadership skills.
- Enjoy collaborating with motivated people.
- Like rolling up your sleeves and helping a growing organisation succeed.
- Believe that making a difference can be both meaningful and enjoyable.
Whether you're early in your career, looking to build governance experience, or simply keen to use your skills for a good cause, we'd love to hear from you.
Commitment
Board members are expected to attend a monthly meeting on the first Monday of each month from 5.30 pm to 7.30 pm, either online or in person. Occasionally, an additional meeting may be required.
If you're excited by the idea of helping a young organisation grow and strengthening environmental outcomes across the Bendigo region, we'd love to hear from you.
