Key Account Manager – Freight Forwarding

CGC Recruitment is partnering with an established, Australian-owned freight forwarding and customs brokerage business seeking an experienced Customer Service & Key Account Manager to join its Brisbane team.

This is an opportunity for someone with a strong freight forwarding background who enjoys building customer relationships, solving problems and taking ownership of shipments from start to finish.

Our client is investing in technology, AI and automation to streamline freight operations, reduce administration and allow its people to spend more time delivering exceptional customer service.

The Opportunity
Working within a close-knit team, you'll combine hands-on freight forwarding operations with customer service and key account management responsibilities.
You'll be responsible for managing international shipments, maintaining strong customer relationships and ensuring freight movements are handled efficiently from booking through to final delivery.
As the business continues to develop its systems, the position will increasingly focus on customer engagement, account management and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage international air and sea freight shipments from booking through to completion.
- Coordinate shipping lines, airlines, transport providers, customs documentation and delivery arrangements.
- Act as the primary point of contact for customers, providing regular shipment updates and resolving operational issues.




- Build and maintain relationships with existing customers and key accounts.
- Manage customer enquiries, shipment documentation and day-to-day freight requirements.
- Work closely with internal teams and external service providers to ensure smooth shipment movements.
- Support customer onboarding and identify opportunities to improve service delivery.
- Contribute to the implementation of new technology, automation and operational improvements.

About You

- Previous experience in international freight forwarding, ideally covering import and/or export operations.
- A solid understanding of air freight, sea freight, shipping documentation and international logistics.
- Experience managing customer relationships, accounts or customer service within a freight forwarding environment.
- Confident coordinating shipments and resolving operational challenges independently.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships with customers and suppliers.
- Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and a proactive approach.
- Comfortable using freight forwarding systems and open to new technology and automation.
