D'Arcy Weil is recruiting a Market Performance Manager, Energy Assets on behalf of a major energy business with a significant and rapidly growing battery storage portfolio. Sitting within the trading and commercial function, the role is responsible for how the portfolio performs in the electricity market, including:

- Overseeing day-to-day market activity, including bidding, dispatch, forecasting and compliance, and managing external control room operators, trading optimisers and market service providers
- Developing and overseeing battery trading and optimisation strategies, covering energy arbitrage, frequency control services and contractual obligations
- Tracking portfolio revenue, trading performance, market exposure and operational risk
- Overseeing settlements, revenue reconciliation and compliance with market operator requirements
- Preparing new batteries for market registration, integration and operation as the pipeline comes online
- Leading a direct report and working with asset management, trading, finance and development teams

With many new assets due over the next two years, the role will shape how the portfolio is run in the market as it scales.





The Role

- Market operations: Oversee day-to-day electricity market activity across the portfolio, including bidding, dispatch, forecasting and regulatory compliance, and manage relationships with external control room operators, trading optimisers and market service providers against commercial and operational targets
- Trading and optimisation: Develop and oversee trading and optimisation strategies across merchant and contracted battery assets, managing energy arbitrage, frequency control ancillary services and contractual obligations
- Performance monitoring: Track portfolio revenue, trading performance, market exposure and operational risk, and pursue opportunities to improve commercial outcomes
- Settlements and compliance: Oversee settlement processes, revenue reconciliation and adherence to market operator requirements and contractual arrangements
- New asset integration: Support market registration, integration and operational readiness for new battery assets as they come online
- Team and stakeholder leadership: Lead one direct report, and work closely with asset management, trading, finance and development teams

About You

- A tertiary qualification in commerce, economics, finance,



engineering or a related discipline
- Strong experience in the Australian NEM and WEM electricity markets, gained in a generator, gentailer, energy retailer, trading business or asset optimisation environment
- A solid understanding of NEM bidding, dispatch, market settlements and regulatory requirements
- Battery trading and optimisation exposure highly regarded
- Commercial and analytical strength
- Confidence managing external service providers and complex market arrangements
