About the Company
Our client is a publicly funded subacute facility in regional NSW, part of a leading Catholic healthcare provider. Its services include palliative care, geriatric evaluation and management, transitional aged care, day therapy programs and aged care assessment. For you, that means a purpose-led organisation with a broad specialist network behind a small, focused service.
About the Position
Our client is looking for a Junior Medical Officer for a shared locum role across its Geriatric Evaluation and Management (GEM) Unit and its Palliative Care Unit, spending roughly half your time in each. The GEM Unit is a 20-bed subacute service focused on restoring function, independence and quality of life for older people. The Palliative Care Unit is a 10-bed inpatient service managing complex symptoms and end-of-life care. You will work alongside Geriatricians, Palliative Care Consultants, nursing teams and allied health professionals. Your duties will include:
- Admissions, discharges and clinical reviews
- Ward rounds and urgent patient reviews
- Medication management and discharge planning
- Clinical documentation, including death certificates where required
- Coordinating patient care across both wards
Two specialised services in one placement gives you a wider clinical experience than a single-ward rotation. The placement runs from 2 November 2026 to 31 January 2027, Monday to Friday,
0830 to 1700 (40 hours per week), with no on-call and no weekends. Locums are engaged under an ABN arrangement and invoice our client directly.
Key Requirements
Essential:
- Current AHPRA registration as a medical practitioner
- Experience and level of training suited to a non-specialist (junior) medical officer role
- Available for the full period, 2 November 2026 to 31 January 2027
- Able to work under an ABN locum arrangement
Desirable: an interest in geriatric or palliative medicine
About the Location
The facility is in a regional NSW city on the Victorian border, roughly halfway between Sydney and Melbourne. Our client arranges your accommodation, so you can settle in without having to find somewhere to live.
On Offer
Our client offers:
- Locum rates in line with the remuneration rates for non-specialist medical staff (short-term or casual), reflecting your experience and level of training
- Accommodation arranged by our client
- Travel costs that may be negotiated
- Support from the Geriatrician and Palliative Care Consultant teams, with links to a broader specialist network
- Weekday day hours, with no on-call and no weekends
