We are partnered with a Local Government organisation in Logan to recruit an Insurance Officer for a temporary contract until the end of June 2027.
Your current role
As an Insurance Officer, you will support the effective administration of a large and diverse insurance portfolio, ensuring assets, liabilities and risk exposures are appropriately protected. Working closely with internal stakeholders, insurers, brokers and service providers, you will deliver timely insurance and claims outcomes while maintaining compliance with legislative, financial and governance requirements.
Key responsibilities include:

- Support the administration of the organisation’s insurance portfolio, including policy renewals, new placements, endorsements and mid-term adjustments.

- Coordinate insurance claims from lodgement through to resolution, including investigations, documentation, stakeholder communication and legislative claim requirements.

- Maintain accurate insurance records, asset schedules, valuation data and claims information to ensure compliance with governance and reporting requirements.

- Provide technical advice and guidance on insurance coverage, claims management processes and insurable risks to internal stakeholders.

- Process insurance-related financial transactions, including invoices, payments, journals, claims costs and reserve monitoring activities.

- Build and maintain effective relationships with brokers, insurers and internal stakeholders while contributing to risk,



compliance and continuous improvement initiatives.

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

- Progression towards qualifications (Diploma Level) or equivalent extensive practical experience in insurance, legal, governance, or risk management is highly desirable

- Experience in a technical position supporting and maintaining insurance and insurance claims and providing technical advice in large complex organisations.

- Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of insurable risk and insurance claims principles and practices.

- Demonstrated effective organisational skills and an ability to meet critical deadlines with a high degree of attention to detail.

- Experience in establishing and maintaining effective relationships with key stakeholders and to work collaboratively across the organisation in an ethical, friendly, productive and professional manner.

- Ability to produce high quality and consistent work and prioritise work effectively to meet stakeholder expectations and statutory deadlines.

- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of computerised business systems and databases.
