Transport Driver (Aboriginal Identified)

This position is responsible for providing a safe and reliable transport service for the children, families and staff of Awabakal Preschool and Playgroup; ensuring the bus is clean, fuelled, secure and in good running order; and undertaking lawn mowing, gardening and general yard upkeep across Awabakal Preschool premises.

Key responsibilities

Ensure all children and families are treated in a friendly manner and with the utmost respect

Ensure an efficient transport service is provided to Awabakal Preschool and Playgroups

Provide transport services to Awabakal Preschool and Playgroup as required

Ensure road rules are obeyed at all times and conduct is in line with the Motor Vehicle Policy

Provide a high level of customer service to children and families, being mindful and empathetic to their personal situation

Assist children and families at all times during the transport service, in particular clients with physical disabilities and of frail age

Maintain a clean and tidy vehicle and ensure vehicle is fueled and in good order ready for service





Check the vehicle's emergency equipment and first aid supplies

Arrange vehicle maintenance, services, repairs, and inspections as necessary with the Centre Manager

Undertake basic gardening and property maintenance tasks across Awabakal Preschool premises

About you

First Aid Certificate

Mandatory child safety training, or willingness to obtain it

National Police Check

Working with Children Check

NSW Driver's License and ability to provide annual drivers history checks

Experience working with Aboriginal people and the community

Honest, trustworthy and maturity to exercise sound judgment

Ability to communicate with a broad range of community members, in a polite, competent and respectful manner

Demonstrates patience and understanding when supporting children with diverse needs and older clients

Demonstrated ability to work independently with limited supervision and as a team member
