Experienced Waitstaff / Senior Section Waiter

BASQ Essendon Fields is looking for experienced restaurant waitstaff to join our Front of House team.

We are looking for confident hospitality professionals who genuinely understand good restaurant service — people who can run their own section, read the room, anticipate guest needs and provide warm, professional service from arrival through to farewell.

This is a casual position with regular shifts available and the opportunity to move into permanent part-time for the right person.

About the Role

You will work across our restaurant service, corporate dining and functions, with shifts across lunch and dinner.

You will:

- Run your own section confidently and efficiently
- Deliver a strong sequence of service
- Welcome and engage guests professionally
- Take accurate food and beverage orders
- Confidently explain menu items and specials
- Guide guests through food and beverage selections
- Upsell naturally and appropriately
- Monitor tables and anticipate guest needs
- Coordinate timing with the kitchen and bar
- Clear and reset tables efficiently
- Maintain high standards of presentation throughout service
- Support the wider Front of House team during busy periods
- Assist and lead less‑experienced team members where appropriate

What We're Looking For

We are looking for people with genuine restaurant experience, not simply someone who has worked briefly in hospitality.

You will ideally have:





- Minimum 2 years' restaurant or quality hospitality experience
- Strong experience running your own section
- Good understanding of restaurant sequence of service
- Excellent communication and guest engagement skills
- Good food and beverage knowledge
- Wine and steak knowledge highly regarded
- Strong attention to detail
- Confidence working through busy services
- A proactive attitude — someone who notices what needs doing
- Professional presentation
- Reliability and punctuality
- Current RSA

Evening and weekend availability is essential.

Availability for some weekday and lunch shifts will also be highly regarded.
