Principal Learning & Development - Town of Port Hedland

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Learning & Development professional to take the lead in shaping workforce capability, leadership development and talent management across the Town. Reporting to the Manager Human Resources, you will lead a dedicated Learning & Development team and play a key role in building a high-performing, engaged and future-ready workforce.

Working in partnership with leaders across the organisation, you will drive the design, delivery and evaluation of strategic learning and development initiatives that support organisational priorities, strengthen succession planning and promote long-term workforce sustainability. From developing future leaders and creating meaningful career pathways to implementing innovative learning programs and talent strategies, you will have the opportunity to influence positive organisational change and deliver measurable outcomes.

This is a hands-on leadership role offering the opportunity to combine strategic thinking with practical delivery, team leadership and stakeholder engagement. The Role

This is a hands-on leadership opportunity combining people management, stakeholder engagement, program delivery and continuous improvement. You will play a key role in developing a capable, engaged and future-ready workforce.

Key responsibilities include:

- Leading, coaching and developing the Learning & Development team.

- Developing and delivering learning, leadership and workforce capability programs,



including the corporate learning calendar.

- Implementing succession planning, career pathways, talent development and employee development initiatives.

- Leading graduate, trainee, apprenticeship and emerging talent programs.

- Identifying workforce capability gaps and opportunities for development.

- Providing specialist advice and coaching to leaders.

- Supporting organisational development, employee engagement and retention initiatives.

About You

You are a proactive and collaborative leader with demonstrated experience in Learning & Development, Organisational Development or Workforce Capability. You can engage stakeholders, lead initiatives and turn organisational priorities into meaningful outcomes.

To be successful, you will have:

- A relevant tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Learning & Development, Organisational Development or a related discipline.

- Significant experience in a relevant role, with responsibility for leading people, programs or projects.

- Experience developing and delivering capability or leadership development programs.

- Experience in succession planning, talent management or workforce development.

- Solid stakeholder engagement, communication and project management skills.

- A current C-class driver's licence.

- A National Police Clearance, or the ability to obtain one.

- Required to undergo a pre-employment drug and alcohol assessment.
