Venue Op's Manager – Lake Macquarie Tavern

We’re looking for a confident, hands-on hospitality professional ready to take the next step in their career. Lake Macquarie Tavern is part of the Don Hodge Group – a family-owned hospitality group with venues across Newcastle, Sydney and Forbes, including The Belmont Hotel and Warners at the Bay in the Lake Macquarie area.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Assistant Manager, Duty Manager or Operations-focused Pub Manager who’s ready to step up. You’ll have the support of an Area Manager and a strong head office team.

About the Venue

Lake Macquarie Tavern is a busy suburban pub with a loyal local crowd. The site includes:

A large bistro with family-friendly focus

TAB and Gaming

Sports bar with a strong local following

Drive-through bottleshop

We’ve got big plans for the venue and are looking for a manager who can assist in leading the team through its next stage of growth.

What You’ll Do

Lead day-to-day venue operations across bar, bistro, gaming and bottleshop





Manage and mentor a team of department managers and supervisors

Drive sales performance, profitability and compliance

Champion great service and a positive workplace culture

Oversee rostering, training, and venue presentation

Work closely with head office on marketing, events and community partnerships

What We’re Looking For

Previous experience as a 2IC, Assistant Manager, or senior Duty Manager in a pub or large hospitality venue

Strong leadership and communication skills

Understanding of financial performance and compliance requirements

A people-first attitude – you lead from the front and support your team

RSA, RCG and TAB compliance certificates (required)

A passion for hospitality and creating memorable experiences
