Our client is a large, well-established and highly successful not for profit organisation with a significant workforce and a strong presence across Australia.
With an experienced finance and payroll function, the business offers a professional, supportive and collaborative working environment.
Based in Melbourne's northern suburbs, this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Payroll Officer to join an established team on a temporary basis, with the added benefit of hybrid working arrangements.
The Position
We are seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to join this organisation on a temporary assignment, commencing around mid-November and anticipated to continue until late February or potentially March.
The position has become available to provide additional support during a period of planned employee absence.
Working alongside an experienced Payroll Manager and other members of the payroll team, your primary responsibility will be supporting the accurate and timely processing of a large and complex employee payroll.
The organisation operates both weekly and fortnightly payroll cycles, with multiple awards and employment conditions requiring careful interpretation.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the accurate and timely processing of high-volume weekly and fortnightly payroll runs.
- Applying and interpreting multiple awards, enterprise agreements and relevant employment conditions.
- Reviewing timesheets, employee hours, allowances, overtime and other payroll-related information.
- Ensuring the accurate calculation and processing of wages, penalties, shift allowances and other payroll entitlements.
- Identifying and investigating payroll discrepancies, errors and variances.
- Responding to payroll-related queries from employees, managers and internal stakeholders.

offering a combination of office-based and remote working.
- Convenient northern suburbs location, particularly attractive for candidates living in Melbourne's north.
