We are seeking highly experienced and driven communications professionals to join our Education and Public Affairs team.

As a Senior Communications and Media Officer, you will provide your expertise and assist with a project to lift the competence and confidence of low-resource and at-risk charities by providing event management expertise or developing guidance and tools.

Depending on the role, you will either:

Communications and Content

Design and develop communications and education products, including coordinating the production of publications, reports, online learning, guidance and tools, webinars and podcasts. You’ll ensure content aligns with relevant standards, procedures and the ACNC Style Guide, and translate complex concepts into engaging and accessible materials for diverse audiences. You’ll be media savvy and adept at scanning the setting for issues and risks.

Events and Education

Plan and deliver events that build the competence and confidence of low-resourced and at-risk charities. You’ll drive a program of events for charities, organising logistics (venue, suppliers, speakers) and promotion and evaluation. You’ll work with internal and external stakeholders to design and deliver tailored learning and engagement activities that meet the needs of the charity sector.

Across both roles, you’ll collaborate with business partners across the ACNC to develop high-quality content and education initiatives. You’ll also guide and mentor less experienced staff, contributing to capability development and a culture of continuous improvement.

You must be an Australian citizen to work for the ACNC.

The Australian community requires the highest integrity of ACNC staff. Our ideal candidate also acts with integrity, makes ethical decisions and embodies our cultural traits and APS values.

We encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, culturally and linguistically diverse people and people with disability or neurodivergence to apply.

Our ideal candidate

> leads the delivery of communications and develops educational materials across multiple formats, including media, publications, internal communications, campaigns, brand management, stakeholder engagement, web publishing, and social media

> plans and delivers events, training or engagement initiatives for diverse audiences, ensuring effective coordination, promotion and evaluation

> drives team performance and workflow management to achieve targets and continuous improvement

> develops plain language guidance, reports and publications by analysing and translating complex information for diverse audiences

> applies knowledge of legislative, regulatory and compliance frameworks to deliver effective communication and education projects

> negotiates and communicates with influence, quickly adapts to changing needs, and focuses on solutions.

Experience in the charity or not-for-profit sectors will be highly regarded but not essential.

Qualifications in writing, journalism, marketing, communications, education or similar will be highly regarded but are not essential.
