About the role

AMP Laser is seeking a Junior CAD/Solidworks Draftsman to join our dynamic production planning and design team. This is a full-time position based in Maddington, WA 6109. In this role, you will be responsible for creating, modifying and maintaining technical drawings and 3D models that are essential to our manufacturing operations.

As a junior member of the team, you will work under the guidance of experienced engineers and drafting professionals, developing your skills whilst contributing meaningfully to the design and production scheduling processes. This position is integral to ensuring our laser cutting, engraving and fabrication projects are executed with precision and efficiency.

Key responsibilities

- Creating and modifying 2D technical drawings and 3D models using AutoCAD software

- Interpreting design specifications, sketches and customer requirements to produce accurate technical documentation

- Preparing detailed drawings for production, including dimensions, tolerances and material specifications

- Collaborating with the design and production teams to refine designs and resolve technical issues

- Updating and maintaining drawing libraries and design documentation in accordance with company standards

- Assisting with the preparation of quotations and technical specifications for current projects

- Learning and adhering to industry best practices and company quality standards

- Supporting the production planning team by ensuring drawings are production-ready and clearly communicated

What we're looking for

- Formal training or qualification in CAD draughting, engineering design or a related discipline

- Proficiency in Autocad, with demonstrated ability to create and modify 3D models and 2D drawings

- Strong understanding of technical drawing conventions, dimensioning and tolerancing principles





- Strong ability to communicate with customers

- Attention to detail and accuracy in technical work

- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications

- Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment

- Problem-solving mindset and willingness to learn from experienced colleagues

- Familiarity with manufacturing processes, particularly laser cutting and fabrication, is advantageous

- Experience with AutoCAD or other CAD software would be beneficial
