Role Description The Head Chef is a full-time, in office role based in Huntingwood, NSW. This role is responsible for planning, preparing, and cooking a variety of high-quality meals for cafeteria guests, including menu execution, food presentation, and adherence to portion and cost control guidelines. The chef oversees daily kitchen operations, including food ordering, inventory management, and coordinating prep and service with kitchen staff to ensure timely and efficient meal delivery.

The role includes maintaining strict food safety and hygiene standards, monitoring equipment and cleanliness, and complying with all relevant health and safety regulations. The Chef collaborates with managers and team members to respond to customer feedback, support special menus or events, and contribute to a positive,



inclusive workplace culture.

Qualifications

- Professional culinary skills, including experience in high-volume cooking, menu execution, and food presentation in a cafeteria or similar environment.
- Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety standards, with a commitment to maintaining a clean and safe kitchen.
- Experience in kitchen operations such as food ordering, inventory control, and cost and portion management.
- Effective teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to coordinate with kitchen and front-of-house staff and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Relevant culinary qualifications, trade certificate, or equivalent on-the-job experience; food safety certification is highly beneficial.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, perform manual handling tasks safely, and follow all Compass Group policies and procedures.
- Previous experience in contract catering, institutional food service, or large-scale commercial kitchens is an advantage.
