About the role

United Refrigeration (Australia) Pty Ltd is seeking a skilled and dedicated Commercial Refrigeration Mechanic to join our service team in Melbourne, VIC. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in maintaining and servicing commercial refrigeration systems for our diverse client base. As a Commercial Refrigeration Mechanic, you will be responsible for the service, maintenance and troubleshooting of refrigeration equipment across a variety of commercial settings.

This position is essential to ensuring our clients' operations run smoothly and their refrigeration systems operate at peak efficiency.

Key responsibilities

- Service, maintain, repair commercial refrigeration systems and equipment
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults in refrigeration units using appropriate testing equipment
- Perform preventative maintenance on refrigeration systems to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety standards
- Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics and system specifications
- Conduct pressure and temperature testing on refrigeration circuits
- Replace faulty components including compressors, motors, valves, thermostats and controls
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with relevant health and safety regulations and industry standards
- Maintain detailed records of service work, repairs and maintenance activities
- Provide technical support and advice to customers regarding their refrigeration systems
- Respond promptly to emergency service calls and breakdowns

What we're looking for

- Completed apprenticeship in refrigeration and air conditioning
- Current refrigeration ARC License
- Current Electrical D License
- Minimum 3–5 years of practical experience in commercial refrigeration maintenance and repair
- Strong technical knowledge of refrigeration principles, thermodynamics and system operation
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and testing equipment
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills




- Physical capability to work at heights and in confined spaces when required
- Valid driver's license
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Commitment to health and safety compliance in the workplace
