We are currently seeking experienced Psychologists for locum opportunities within Queensland Correctional Services, supporting mental health intake and triage for both new and returning inmates.

These roles offer the opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary environment delivering frontline psychological assessment and triage services to individuals entering or re-entering the correctional system. Contracts are typically 3 months in duration, with the possibility of extension depending on service requirements.

The Role

As a Locum Psychologist within the correctional system, you will play a key role in the intake and triage process for new and returning inmates,



ensuring appropriate psychological screening and identification of mental health needs upon entry to the facility.

Key responsibilities include:

- Conducting psychological intake assessments for inmates entering the correctional system

- Triage and identification of mental health risks, vulnerabilities, and support needs

- Contributing to early intervention strategies and referral pathways

- Working collaboratively with custodial staff and multidisciplinary health teams

- Maintaining accurate clinical documentation in line with service protocols

Requirements

- Registration as a Psychologist with AHPRA

- Previous experience in mental health, forensic, or correctional settings is highly regarded

- Robust assessment and triage skills

- Ability to work effectively within structured and secure environments

- Availability for 3 month locum contracts
