Finance Officer – Defence

Bring your budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting experience to a role supporting Defence’s Information Assurance Systems Program Office (IASPO).

Azooa is preparing a response and seeking an experienced Finance Officer to support the financial administration of Defence capability acquisition, modernisation and sustainment activities.

? Campbell Park, Canberra

? ASAP start through to 30 June 2027, with a possible extension

? Full-time contract, 1.0 FTE

? Current NV1 security clearance or higher required The opportunity

You’ll work with project and product managers to maintain accurate financial records, manage procurement transactions, process invoices and provide reliable budget forecasts and financial advice.

What you’ll do

- Create, maintain and amend ERP outline agreements and purchase orders.
- Update purchase-order phasing, monitor aged commitments and support goods receipting.
- Validate vendor invoices against contracts and coordinate timely payments.
- Support corporate credit card administration.
- Maintain budget planning workbooks, forecasts and IBRS pre-commitment data.
- Analyse expenditure, budget variances, underspends and overspends.
- Lead budget reviews and prepare financial reporting and SPMS variance explanations.
- Support Budget Estimates, the Defence Management and Finance Plan (DMFP),



CAPT budgets and sustainment reviews.
- Contribute to audits, quality assurance and Defence financial governance.

What you’ll bring

- Experience working with Defence budgets or finances.
- Qualifications and experience relevant to financial administration, procurement, budgeting and reporting.
- Strong attention to detail and transparent stakeholder communication.
- A current Australian Government security clearance of at least NV1.
- Ability to meet the onsite attendance requirements.

Working arrangements Based at Campbell Park Offices, Canberra. The RFQ specifies a minimum of three onsite days per week and also lists no remote opportunities. The final weekly attendance arrangement requires confirmation. ITAR requirements apply; specific conditions require confirmation.

Rate guidance

Azooa’s recommended value-for-money position is under AUD $149.73 per hour including superannuation . Higher rates may be considered case by case, based on relevant experience and alignment with the role. Your rate will be agreed before submission.
