About the Roles
As a Kitchen Staff member or Chef, you will play an important role in preparing and providing nutritious, high-quality meals for aged care residents while maintaining food safety, hygiene and a clean kitchen environment.
Kitchen Staff – Key Responsibilities
- Assist with meal preparation and basic food handling
- Prepare and serve meals, snacks and beverages according to dietary requirements
- Assist with plating, portioning and distributing meals to residents
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene across kitchen and dining areas
- Wash dishes, utensils and kitchen equipment
- Follow food safety procedures and infection control requirements
- Work collaboratively with chefs and the wider care team
Chefs – Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook and present nutritious, high-quality meals for residents
- Plan and prepare meals according to menus and residents' dietary requirements
- Cater to special diets, allergies and texture-modified meals as required
- Maintain food safety,
storage and temperature control standards
- Monitor kitchen supplies and minimise food waste
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised kitchen
- Work collaboratively with kitchen staff and facility teams
About You
Kitchen Staff
To be successful, you will have:
- Previous experience in kitchen hand, food preparation or similar roles (aged care or healthcare experience is highly regarded)
- Knowledge of food safety and kitchen hygiene practices
- Ability to follow instructions and work efficiently in a team
- Good communication and time management skills
- Current National Police Check (within the last 12 months)
- NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain)
- Evidence of current COVID-19 vaccination, including booster where required
- Current Influenza vaccination
- Valid Australian working rights
- 100 points of identification
Chefs
To be successful, you will have:
- Previous experience as a Chef or Cook, preferably in residential aged care, healthcare or a similar setting
- Relevant culinary qualifications or equivalent experience
- Knowledge of food safety, hygiene and protected food handling practices
- Experience preparing meals for special dietary requirements
- Ability to manage kitchen operations and work effectively under pressure
- Current National Police Check (within the last 12 months)
- NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain)
- Evidence of current COVID-19 vaccination, including booster where required
- Current Influenza vaccination
- Valid Australian working rights
- 100 points of identification
