Established in 1894, Wirra Wirra is a family-owned wine business with a portfolio spanning three distinctive wine brands: Wirra Wirra in McLaren Vale, and Ashton Hills and Hahndorf Hill in the Adelaide Hills. Together, these brands produce a diverse range of wines that reflect the character of their respective regions, with a reputation for quality, craftsmanship and regional expression.

The Role

We are looking for practical and organised person to manage plant and equipment maintenance across our 1,500-tonne winery, our 100-tonne winery, and three cellar door sites. You will be based in McLaren Vale with time spent at the Adelaide Hills sites as required. You'll balance practical hands-on maintenance with coordinating both on site and external contractors to provide planned maintenance and urgent repairs during vintage.

You will also oversee the maintenance and presentation of the grounds and buildings our guests see every day.

Reporting to the Chief Winemaker you will be working autonomously to manage a range of contractors and with direct responsibility for one Maintenance Operator. You will have excellent communication skills to directly solve issues within the business as well liaise closely with the Cellar Supervisor, HSE Manager, CFO and CEO.

Key Responsibilities:

- Run preventative maintenance programs for all winery and site equipment: crushers, presses, pumps, tanks, brine plant and waste-water treatment plant.
- Maintain buildings and cellar doors, electrical, plumbing, and general repairs.
- Oversee grounds, gardens, car parks, and outdoor areas at all sites.
- Plan and coordinate vintage readiness, including equipment commissioning,



servicing, and on-call support.
- Manage contractors, suppliers, and service providers safely.
- Manage the maintenance budget, work with area leaders to deliver capital projects, and equipment replacement plans.
- Keep sites compliant with Health, Safety and Environment as well as HACCP food safety regulations.
- Lead maintenance staff and contractors as needed.

What we are looking for:

- Trade qualification (electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, or similar).
- Minimum 4 years in a similar wine industry role or knowledge of the food/ manufacturing industry.
- Demonstrated experience with risk assessments, safety procedures and regulations.
- Robust preventative maintenance understanding along with and urgent breakdown problem-solving skills in relation to winery equipment.
- Multi-site or property management experience.
- Organised and practical, with a maintenance tracking mindset.
- Proficient computer skills, Word, Excel, Outlook.
- Able to communicate clearly and work with a wide range of people.
- Comfortable being on call and working extended hours during vintage

Highly preferred qualifications:

- Certified trade (Electrician, Plumbing, Metal Fabrication, Welding).

Essential qualifications:

- Current Australia driver's licence
- Current Australian forklift licence
