Down Syndrome and Intellectual Disability Queensland

Ascot

Down Syndrome & Intellectual Disability Queensland (DSIDQ) is the peak body for people with intellectual disability in Queensland. As a registered charity, we advocate for and empower individuals and their families to lead fulfilling, inclusive lives.

Help Shape the Next Chapter of DSIDQ

Down Syndrome & Intellectual Disability Queensland is seeking an entrepreneurial Marketing, Growth & Fundraising Manager to lead our profile elevation, audience reach, and sustainable revenue generation across Queensland.

This is a standalone senior role reportingdirectly to the Chief Executive Officer and sitting as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT). It offers the perfect blend of strategic leadership and hands-on execution. You will hold end-to-end responsibility for marketing, communications, digital engagement, fundraising, business development, partnerships, and major events.

Marketing sits at the heart of this role, but it is much more than a traditional communications position. We need a commercial, community-minded builder who can spot unique opportunities, build deep relationships, and turn bold ideas into measurable results.

Why This Role, Why Now?

DSIDQ has recently launched an ambitious new three-year strategic plan. This is your opportunity to join a future-focused organisation at a pivotal stage of growth. You will build upon our deeply respected community foundations while pioneering new ways to connect with audiences, strengthen our public profile, and secure sustainable income streams.

If you want a role where you have the genuine autonomy to shape how an organization is perceived, how it engages with partners, and how it scales its impact, this is it.

Key Responsibilities

- Strategic Leadership & Performance: Contribute to the SLT; develop annual plans, budgets,

and KPIs; manage external suppliers/contractors; and report directly to the CEO on pipeline performance, ROI, and compliance risks.
- Marketing, Communications & Media: Lead the overarching marketing strategy. Drive media relations, manage organisational communications, and support CEO communications and key messaging. Create accessible, highly engaging written, visual, and digital content.
- Growth & Fundraising: Design and execute an annual growth plan with explicit income targets. Deliver omni-channel fundraising campaigns, appeals, community fundraising, and individual giving opportunities.
- Business Development & Partnerships: Build, manage, and convert an active pipeline of corporate, philanthropic, government, and community partners. Build tailored sponsorship packages ensuring full alignment with DSIDQ’s values and reputation.
- Major Events & Campaigns: Own the marketing, fundraising, and sponsorship outcomes for flagship annual events—including our landmark World Down Syndrome Day Breakfast and Gala Dinners (targeting 150+ attendees). Oversee promotional activity, budgets, post-event evaluations, and growth strategies.

About You You are a highly organised, independent strategic thinker who loves being "hands-on" to create, coordinate, and execute daily deliverables. You manage competing priorities with ease, thrive in a dual strategic and operational role, and bring a commercial mindset to community impact.

What you will bring (Essential):

- Qualifications:

A relevant tertiary qualification (or equivalent experience) in Marketing, Communications, Business, Fundraising, or a related discipline.
- Senior Experience: A proven senior track record across marketing, communications, fundraising, and/or business development.
- Digital & Communication Core: Strong practical marketing, social media, digital content, and accessible communications skills.
- Financial & Operational Acumen: Strong experience managing budgets, tracking KPIs, utilizing CRMs/analytics, and delivering structured performance reporting.
- Event & Relationship Execution: Demonstrated success securing corporate partnerships/sponsorships and executing major high-profile events (150+ attendees).
- Compliance & Flexibility: A valid Blue Card and NDIS Worker Screening Check (or ability to obtain), alongside the flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends to support our major events.

What will set you apart (Desirable):

- Experience within the disability, community, or Not-For-Profit (NFP) sector, ideally with localised knowledge of the Queensland disability space.
- Familiarity with philanthropy, grants, CRM databases, or marketing automation systems.
- Practical skills using design platforms like Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
- Lived experience of disability, or experience working closely with people with intellectual disabilities, families, and carers.

This is a full-time, fixed-term position until December 2027 (with potential for extension) classified under the SCHADS Award at Level 7.
