Node Networks
Brisbane
Company Description
Node Networks is a boutique consultancy specializing in medium-scale telecommunications networking, based in Brisbane. We pride ourselves on our expertise in enabling scalable growth for our customers by helping them to manage their networking environments with deliberate planning and execution.
Role Description
This is a full-time role for a Network Engineer who will assist us in incident response and project implementations. Being a technically-led company, there is an unparalleled opportunity to grow your skills under the guidance of strong engineering talent. You’ll work directly with our Network Architect across dozens of customer networks, so no two weeks look the same.
Day to day, you’ll be:
- Commissioning new routers, switches and firewalls, and onboarding new customer sites
- Responding to faults and outages, and restoring service
- Implementing projects and cutovers designed by our Network Architect
- Attending data centres and customer sites for racking, cabling and remote hands
- Provisioning customer services, and running evening maintenance windows and firmware upgrades
- Auditing and tidying up networks we take over, and rolling out standards across customer fleets
- Liaising with carriers and data centres on cross-connects and faults
- Keeping documentation, NetBox and worklogs accurate
- Acting as a mentor for junior staff to help them develop their skills further
You’ll work across Juniper, MikroTik, Fortinet, Arista, Cisco, Huawei, and more-- you don’t need to know all of it on day one.
This role is primarily based out of Teneriffe,
but involves works all around Brisbane (and sometimes interstate) and would suit someone who is keen to grow their skills further and progress towards a Senior Network Engineer or Network Architect position.
Due to the nature of our work, some compensated after-hours work and on-call participation is required, but we make sure that flexibility goes both ways.
Desired Skills
- Strong network troubleshooting skills
- Effective communication and problem-solving skills
- Great interpersonal skills, as you will be representing us during on-site works
- Proven experience with Juniper, Cisco, Arista, Mikrotik, Fortinet or Huawei
- Strong knowledge of BGP, OSPF, VRRP and IPsec
- Knowledge of MPLS, ISIS, MP-BGP
- Knowledge of Ansible, Jinja2, and Docker
- Knowledge of standard supporting systems such as LibreNMS, Netbox and Grafana
- Experience in ISP environment tech such as RADIUS, PPPoE/IPoE, CGNAT, PON, TR-069, etc
- CCNA, JNCIS-SP, JNCIS-ENT, or NSE-4 certifications
- Exposure to ticketing systems such as JIRA, Autotask, Linear, and Halo
Salary and Perks
- Up to $125,000 excluding superannuation, based on your skill-set
- All employees have a Progression Plan to help them reach their career goals, with allocated in-work time for this growth, and all associated certifications paid for
- Flexible working - we know you'll make time for our customers, so we make time for your life too
- Great work culture, with lunch at the local most Fridays and a monthly BBQ at the office
- Company Macbook Pro and SIM, or compensation for your current mobile plan
