Our Urban Water Policy team is currently seeking to appoint a Policy Officer Urban Water to contribute to some of NSW’s most significant urban water policy initiatives, working at the intersection of water resource management, land use planning, sustainability and government reform.

As part of a collaborative and high-performing Urban Water Policy team, you will support the development and delivery of policies and projects that help to ensure safe, affordable and resilient water supplies and wastewater services to NSW cities and towns. Projects may include water recycling, water-sensitive urban design, integrated water cycle management, potable water planning, drought response and water industry reform.

Working closely with senior leaders, government agencies, water utilities and industry stakeholders, you will provide research, analysis and strategic policy advice that influences decision-making and delivers positive outcomes for communities, the environment and the economy.

About You To be successful in this role, you will bring:

- Experience in policy development, research and project delivery, with the ability to provide evidence-based recommendations.
- Knowledge of urban water management, water policy, planning or related regulatory environments.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across government and industry.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including preparing briefings, reports and policy advice.
- The ability to analyse complex policy issues, think critically and develop practical, well-reasoned solutions to support decision-making




- Strong project management and organisational skills, with experience planning, coordinating and controlling projects while managing competing priorities..
- A proactive, collaborative approach with a commitment to integrity, accountability and continuous improvement.

Essential Requirements

- Tertiary qualifications in policy, public sector administration, economics, environmental science or equivalent, relevant skilled experience and training.
- Demonstrated experience in and knowledge of the policy process, project management and the processes of government.
