Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission

Melbourne

About the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission The Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission is the national regulator of Australian Government-funded aged care services.

We protect and enhance the safety, health, wellbeing, and quality of life of people receiving aged care. This includes managing complaints and feedback about the care older people receive.

We help build confidence and trust in aged care, by promoting best practice and a culture of safety and quality in the sector. We register providers and hold them to account if they don’t meet expected standards of care.

We work with providers, workers, older people, their families, and supporters to make sure they understand and uphold older people’s rights.

Meet some of our people and learn more about the Commission and our Regulatory Strategy on our website www.agedcarequality.gov.au

About the Team The Data, Analytics and Intelligence (DAI) Branch manages and analyses data from the aged care sector and regulatory activities to understand risks and performance for the purposes of prioritising and informing preventative and responsive risk treatments and regulatory decision making.

DAI’s role is to identify risks and guide decisions that inform preventative and responsive risk treatments. DAI supports service delivery through authoritative data and intelligence practice that is contemporary and compliant with relevant legislation, regulations, standards and aligned with the strategic imperatives of the Commission.

The Intelligence and Analytics Section delivers a risk profiling, intelligence and analytics program that empowers the Commission to manage sector, provider and worker risk. The section supports decision-making across the risk management lifecycle, including:

- delivering integrated risk models and AI tools that flag potential harms before they occur
- providing systemic insight and guiding responses on sector-wide risks
- developing intelligence on risk trends and drivers of harm for aged care workers, providers and the sector.

The section’s trusted insights are founded on advanced analytical techniques, integrated data and the multi-disciplinary skillsets of data science, analytics and intelligence.
