About the role

Middlemount Coal is seeking an experienced and commercially focused Supply Chain Specialist to join our site-based Commercial team. Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will play a key role in supporting procurement, purchasing and contract management activities throughout the operation.

This position partners closely with Department Managers, Contracts and Legal teams, and suppliers to ensure procurement activities are delivered through robust commercial processes, strong governance and practical outcomes that support site operations.

Key Responsibilities

As the Supply Chain Specialist, you will be responsible for facilitating and supporting purchasing, procurement and contract management processes, including:

· Managing vendor engagement, supplier evaluations and onboarding activities.

· Coordinating requests for quotations (RFQs), tender processes and commercial evaluations.

· Supporting contract owners through procurement and contract lifecycle activities.

· Ensuring compliance with internal approvals, procurement frameworks and governance requirements.

· Maintaining accurate procurement documentation and records.

· Assisting with contract reviews, variations and commercial performance activities.

· Working collaboratively with operational stakeholders to secure goods and services that meet business requirements.

· Supporting continuous improvement initiatives relating to procurement processes, systems and reporting

About You

- Experience in procurement, purchasing, contracts and/or commercial functions within the mining industry.
- Robust commercial acumen and understanding of contract management principles.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- The ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.




- Confidence working with procurement systems and business reporting tools.
- A proactive approach with a focus on continuous improvement.

What You’ll Bring

- Tertiary qualifications in Commerce, Business, Legal, Supply Chain, Procurement or a related discipline with significant relevant experience; or
- Extensive experience in a mining purchasing, contracts, procurement or logistics role.
- Experience managing procurement processes and commercial documentation.
- Working knowledge of mining operations and supply chain activities.

About Middlemount Coal

Middlemount Coal Mine is located approximately 90 kilometres north-east of Emerald and some 7 kilometres west of the township of Middlemount in Queensland’s Bowen Basin.

Middlemount Coal Mine is an open-cut coal mine which uses conventional truck and excavator methods. Middlemount commenced its full-scale operations in November 2011, producing approximately 4Mtpa of coking and PCI coal for export. Middlemount coal mine has a life expectancy estimated to be more than 20 years.

Middlemount Coal Pty Ltd (Middlemount) is an incorporated joint venture between Peabody Energy Australia Pty Ltd and Yancoal Australia Ltd.
