Chosen Family is seeking a compassionate, reliable, and LGBTQIA+-affirming Support Worker to support Max, a creative and independent 24-year-old living in Burwood Heights, NSW.

Max is gender diverse and uses they/them pronouns. They enjoy arts and anime and are looking for someone who can provide practical assistance, companionship, and support to participate in activities they enjoy.

This role is ideal for a support worker who values inclusion, respects individual identity, and is passionate about promoting independence, choice, and community participation.

Key Responsibilities

Support will total approximately 6 hours per week, divided between domestic assistance and community access.

Responsibilities Include

- Domestic Assistance: Approximately 3 hours per week assisting with household tasks and maintaining a comfortable living setting.
- Community Access: Approximately 3 hours per week supporting Max to access the community and participate in activities of interest.
- Social Engagement: Building a positive working relationship through companionship and shared interests, including arts and anime.
- Independence and Choice: Encouraging Max's autonomy, personal preferences, and participation in everyday activities.
- Inclusive Support: Communicating respectfully, using they/them pronouns, and providing person-centred, identity-affirming support.
- Communication Support: Adapting communication approaches to accommodate Max's hearing needs.

Days and times are flexible and can be discussed with Max and the rostering team.

About You

We are looking for a Support Worker who is:





- LGBTQIA+-affirming, inclusive, and respectful of gender diversity.
- Comfortable using they/them pronouns consistently.
- Warm, patient, reliable, and approachable.
- Comfortable providing both domestic assistance and community access.
- Able to communicate clearly and adapt communication to support a person who is hard of hearing.
- Interested in creative activities, arts, anime, or similar interests.
- Committed to promoting independence, dignity, choice, and social inclusion.
- Professional, dependable, and able to maintain appropriate support worker boundaries.

A feminine-presenting support worker is preferred. Transgender and other LGBTQIA+ applicants are warmly encouraged to apply.

- No known behavioural concerns or high-intensity support requirements.
