Employing around 180 staff nationally, MADEC delivers employment services, education, training and workforce solutions, including large‑scale labour hire operations and the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) Scheme. The organisation is undergoing an exciting phase of transformation and business growth and has a number of new positions available.
Reporting to the General Manager – Employment Services, the Wellbeing Services Manager will lead the development, delivery and continuous improvement of MADEC’s wellbeing and counselling services across multiple regions. This newly established leadership role will shape a consistent, accessible and sustainable wellbeing function that supports participants to overcome personal challenges, strengthen engagement and progress towards meaningful employment.
This is a pivotal position responsible for building a contemporary service model, strengthening clinical governance, enhancing quality and safeguarding frameworks, and ensuring wellbeing services are delivered with professionalism, consistency and financial sustainability. The role will work closely with regional leaders, specialist practitioners and operational teams to embed effective wellbeing support throughout the participant journey.
Key responsibilities include
- developing and implementing a wellbeing strategy aligned with organisational objectives and participant needs;
- leading, mentoring and developing wellbeing professionals, fostering a cooperative, accountable and supportive team culture;
- overseeing service delivery, budgets, workforce planning and performance to ensure quality, accessibility and financial sustainability;
- establishing consistent service models, referral pathways and operational practices across multiple locations;
- improving scheduled appointment utilisation, referral conversion, practitioner productivity and overall service performance;
- strengthening clinical governance, safeguarding, quality assurance and risk management frameworks in partnership with appropriately qualified practitioners;
- collaborating with Employment Services leaders to integrate wellbeing support across programs and service streams;
- identifying, evaluating and developing opportunities for business growth in other areas such as Medicare-rebatable mental health services, private health insurance, EAP, fee-for-service delivery and partnerships beyond Employment Services;
- building relationships with community organisations, specialist providers and external stakeholders to enhance access to services;
- identifying opportunities for innovation, service improvement, new business models and sustainable growth.
Applications are encouraged from experienced wellbeing or clinical services leaders with strong operational capability and a deep understanding of professional practice standards.
The successful candidate will hold a recognised qualification in psychology, social work, occupational therapy or a related allied health discipline, along with relevant professional registration or accreditation. Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary mental health, counselling or allied health teams is essential, as is capability in managing budgets, utilisation, productivity and service performance.
Whilst not essential, highly regarded credentials include eligibility for Medicare‑rebateable mental health services, experience operating Medicare‑funded or private practice environments, and exposure to EAP programs, commercial partnerships or new service establishment. Postgraduate qualifications in clinical practice, leadership or business will also be valued.
MADEC is seeking a thoughtful, capable leader who can balance participant wellbeing, professional standards and operational performance. Strong stakeholder engagement skills, strategic thinking, financial acumen and the ability to influence senior leaders are essential.
With frequent travel expected, this position can be based in Adelaide, Albury, Shepparton or Melbourne.
