The Opportunity
Talent Mining is recruiting on behalf of an established, fast-growing global OEM slurry pump company. Our client has branches worldwide and designs, makes and supplies its own range of best-in-class heavy-duty centrifugal slurry pumps, proven in demanding mining applications. Customer service is central to the business, built on technical support, engineering excellence and fixing problems fast.

The Role
Reporting to the General Manager - Australia & South East Asia, you will lead the Australian Engineering team day to day and set its technical direction, with responsibility extending into South East Asia. The role covers application engineering leadership, customer-facing technical support and ownership of slurry pump projects.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead, mentor and develop the regional Application Engineering team
- Set priorities and allocate resources across sales, projects, aftermarket and site support
- Specify equipment for recent applications, including duty selection, sizing and configuration
- Find the root causes of failures and underperformance, and recommend corrective actions
- Improve pump performance, wear life and total cost of ownership
- Own engineering-related slurry pump projects from enquiry through to commissioning support
- Act as a senior technical contact for key customers,



EPCs and consultants
- Support critical bids, tenders and technical clarifications
- Work closely with the global engineering, manufacturing and supply chain teams

About You

Essential:

- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Strong background in slurry pumps, centrifugal pumps or rotating equipment
- Proven application engineering experience, ideally in mining or mineral processing
- Experience leading an engineering team
- Solid understanding of slurry pump hydraulics, wear mechanisms and materials of construction
- Able to explain complex technical concepts clearly to any audience

Advantageous:

- Experience with a global OEM or multinational engineering organisation
- Exposure to EPC projects and large mining operations
- Experience supporting multiple regions or countries
- Familiarity with pump testing, performance analysis and failure investigations
