Golf Leadership Opportunity

Sun City Country Club is looking for an exceptional golf industry professional ready to take the next significant step in their career.

Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Director of Golf will lead the Club’s Golf Operations, people, Pro Shop and retail, competitions, events, member experience and golf development.

We are looking for more than an experienced golf operator. We are looking for a future industry leader.

Someone who understands golf, can lead and develop people, brings ideas rather than waiting for them, understands the commercial side of the business and wants to continue developing broader management and leadership capability.

In return, Sun City will provide genuine responsibility, autonomy and a strong commitment to the successful applicant’s education, professional development and career growth.

About Sun City

Located in Yanchep, approximately 45 minutes north of Perth, Sun City Country Club provides an outstanding golfing environment for more than 800 golf members and the growing surrounding community.

The Club features an 18-hole golf course recognised among Australia’s Top 100 Public Access Courses, together with a large grass driving range, chipping area and putting green.

With Golf Operations now under direct Club management, Sun City is entering an exciting new phase with opportunities to further develop our member experience, Pro Shop, events, golf development programmes and broader golf services.

The Opportunity

The Director of Golf will take ownership of the performance and continued development of the Golf Operations Department, working closely with the General Manager and wider management team.

Key Accountabilities

· Lead the day-to-day Golf Operations Department and the overall member and visitor golf experience.

· Lead, mentor and develop the Golf Operations team, creating clear standards around service, accountability and professionalism.

· Oversee competitions, fixtures, championships, bookings and member golf.

· Lead the commercial performance of the Pro Shop, including purchasing, merchandising, inventory, margins, supplier relationships and retail growth.

· Develop and deliver corporate golf days, feature events and special golf activities.

· Work with the Club’s Teaching Professional & Game Development to establish the direction of junior, beginner, adult and player-development programmes.

· Support member attraction, onboarding, engagement and retention, including pathways from introductory golf into regular participation and membership.

· Contribute to operational planning, budgets,

financial reporting, business cases and continuous improvement.

· Maintain strong relationships with members, committees, suppliers, Golf Management Australia, the PGA of Australia, GolfWA and other industry partners.

· Ensure appropriate operational, safety, compliance and risk-management standards across Golf Operations.

About You

You will be an experienced golf industry professional ready to take genuine ownership of a complete Golf Operations department. You may currently be a Director of Golf, Golf Operations Manager, Assistant Professional, Golf Services Manager or senior golf industry professional ready for greater responsibility.

· Strong golf industry and operational experience, with a thorough understanding of Club golf and competitions.

· Experience leading people and creating a positive, accountable service culture.

· Experience within a successful Pro Shop, retail or commercially focused golf operation.

· Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of budgets, stock, margins and operational performance.

· Excellent communication, planning and relationship-building skills.

· Confidence working with members, committees, suppliers and industry partners.

· Sound systems and technology capability.

· Initiative, sound judgement and the confidence to recommend and implement improvements.

· A genuine commitment to continued learning and broader management development.

A PGA of Australia qualification, or recognised qualifications in golf management, business, leadership, sport management or related disciplines, will be highly regarded.

WE WILL INVEST IN YOUR DEVELOPMENT
A structured professional development and education programme will be established with the successful applicant, aligned with their experience, development needs and longer-term career objectives.

Professional Development & Growth opportunities

budgeting and business planning.

· Retail, commercial and supplier management.

· Strategic planning, project management and business-case development.

· Exposure to broader Club operations.

· GMA education, conferences, networking and career development opportunities.

· PGA of Australia education, accreditation and professional development where relevant.

· Industry networking and recognised professional qualifications.

We do not expect the successful applicant to know everything on day one. We do expect them to want to keep learning.
