Mackay

Hose & Hydraulics Account Representative

- EMS CME

- Mackay, Bowen & Callide Basins

- Full-time

Technical knowledge. Customer relationships. A role that keeps you connected to the industry.

EMS CME, part of the Evoke Maintenance Services (EMS) group, supplies industrial hose and fittings, conveyor products and HDPE pipe to mining and industrial clients across Central Queensland.

With a solid pipeline of work heading into 2027, we're looking for someone with practical hose and hydraulics experience to manage and grow our customer accounts across the Bowen and Callide Basins.

If you're an experienced hose fitter, hydraulics technician or industry specialist looking to move into a customer-facing role without losing the hands-on side of the job, this could be a good next step.

About the role

This is a technical, customer-focused role combining account management, site visits, product knowledge and practical problem-solving.

You'll take ownership of an established portfolio of customers, building relationships, responding to enquiries and identifying opportunities for further business.

One day you might be on site completing a hose take-off or inspecting a failed assembly. The next, you'll be preparing quotes, coordinating orders or working with a customer to find the right product for their application.

You'll have the autonomy to plan your week, manage your accounts and follow through on what you commit to.

Previous sales experience isn't essential. We're more interested in someone who knows hose and hydraulics, communicates well and takes pride in looking after their customers. We'll provide training in our products, systems and sales processes.

What you'll do

- Manage an established portfolio of customer accounts, including enquiries, quotations, orders and ongoing support.

- Visit mine sites and industrial workshops across the Bowen and Callide Basins, maintaining regular contact with customers.

- Complete accurate on-site hose take-offs, identifying and recording hose specifications, fittings, measurements and assembly requirements.

- Inspect failed hose assemblies and recommend suitable replacements for the application.

- Prepare and follow up quotations, coordinate orders and see enquiries through to completion.

- Provide practical support when required, including urgent orders, deliveries, breakdowns and shutdown requirements.

- Identify opportunities to introduce customers to our wider product range, including Martin Engineering conveyor products and recyclable HDPE pipe.

- Work with the wider EMS group to identify and follow up opportunities across our shared client base.

What we're looking for

We're looking for someone with a solid understanding of industrial hose and hydraulics, gained through hands-on trade, technical or industry experience.

You'll ideally bring:

- Experience in industrial hose and hydraulics, whether as a hose fitter, hydraulics technician, workshop technician or in hose and fittings supply.

- Sound knowledge of hose types, fittings, threads, adaptors and assembly requirements.

- The ability to complete accurate hose take-offs and identify suitable products for different applications.

- Strong communication skills and a practical, customer-focused approach.

- Good organisation and follow-through, with the initiative to manage your own workload.

- Confidence working independently, both on site and in the office.

- Working knowledge of Microsoft 365, particularly Outlook and Excel.

- A current C class driver's licence and the ability to meet mine site access requirements, including medicals and inductions.

Highly regarded

- Previous sales, technical sales or account management experience within mining or industrial supply.

- Hands-on hose assembly experience, including cutting, skiving and crimping.

- Familiarity with Recognised Standard 23, MDG 41 or hose management systems.

- Experience with conveyor systems or associated products.

- Current Standard 11 and Coal Board Medical.

- Existing industry relationships across the Bowen or Callide Basins.

What we offer

- Company vehicle for the role.

- An established customer base with opportunities to develop new business.

- Product and systems training, including the Martin Engineering conveyor range.

- The autonomy to manage your accounts and plan your working week.

- Opportunities to develop as the business expands its services and site-based operations.

- The support and resources of the broader EMS group.

How to apply

Apply with your résumé and a brief cover letter outlining your experience with industrial hose and hydraulics.

Our selection process includes a practical product knowledge discussion and a short Excel exercise. Shortlisted applicants will also be asked to provide at least two work references.

Apply through SEEK or visit emsaustralia.net/careers.
