Coevestor is recruiting for a Co-founder to support Coercivity Pty Ltd
- a startup focused on building Australia's first samarium-cobalt magnet production in Queensland, from Australian-traceable feedstock, for defence and aerospace customers. We're looking for a technical co-founder to build it with us. The role You'll own the technical side of the company: taking a magnet-making process from the lab to a working production line. Full time from January 2027, based in Brisbane. The role will change as the company grows, and we want someone who is excited by that rather than put off by it. What you'll bring
• A PhD or Master's in materials science, metallurgy, or materials or process engineering, or equivalent depth from industry
• Hands-on experience processing metals: alloy melting or casting, powder handling, pressing, sintering or heat treatment
• Comfort running experiments and turning results into a repeatable, documented process
• Experience with lab or plant equipment: furnaces, vacuum or inert-atmosphere systems, mills, presses, test instruments
• Sound safety habits with hazardous materials and high-temperature processes
• The ability to explain technical work clearly to investors, customers and partners Who you are
• Pragmatic. You pick the solution that works and ships, not the most elegant one on paper.




• Hands-on. You're as comfortable on the shop floor or at the bench as at a desk, and you'll fix the furnace yourself if you have to.
• Happy wearing many hats. One week it's process development, the next it's sourcing equipment, writing a procedure or talking to a customer.
• Resourceful. You can do a lot with a small budget and find the person who knows the answer.
• In it for the long haul. You want to build something lasting in Australia and own a meaningful part of it. Nice to have
• Experience with permanent magnets (SmCo, NdFeB) or other magnetic materials
• Rare-earth metals or alloy experience
• Scaling a process from lab to pilot or production, including specifying and commissioning equipment
• Quality systems such as ISO 9001 or AS9100, or work in defence or aerospace supply chains
• Experience in a startup or another small, fast-moving team
