About the Role
The company is looking for a commercially minded Business Development Manager to help grow its products and build the commercial foundations around the business.
This is a hands on business development and sales role with a clear focus on generating revenue. You will identify new customers, partnerships and sales opportunities, build relationships with schools, organisations and other potential clients, and turn those conversations into sustainable commercial opportunities.
You will also help the company develop its broader sales operation, including building out its workshop program, developing recent routes to market and working with the wider team on larger marketing and promotional activity.
This role would suit someone who enjoys creating opportunities rather than waiting for them to arrive.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage a pipeline of prospective customers, clients and commercial partners.
- Identify and approach schools, education providers, youth organisations, community groups and other relevant markets.
- Build relationships with potential clients and partners and manage conversations from initial contact through to sale.
- Develop and grow the company's workshop program as a commercial and community engagement channel.
- Identify new sales channels, partnerships and market opportunities.
- Run presentations, demonstrations and meetings with prospective customers and partners.
- Work with the Community Manager and wider team to turn audience engagement into commercial opportunities.
- Help plan larger scale marketing and promotional activity that supports sales.
- Develop practical sales processes, tracking and reporting as the company's commercial operation grows.
- Maintain accurate records of leads, conversations, opportunities and results.
- Work towards agreed sales, revenue and business development targets.
About You
We are looking for someone confident, proactive and comfortable starting conversations with people who may not already know the company.
You will ideally have:
- Experience in business development, sales, partnerships or a commercially focused marketing role.
- Strong communication and relationship building skills.
- Confidence approaching prospective clients and developing new opportunities.
- The ability to take a lead from first conversation through to a commercial outcome.
- Strong organisation and follow up skills.
- An understanding of how marketing, community engagement and sales can work together.
- The ability to work independently and help shape processes within a growing business.
Experience or an interest in games, education, children's products, technology or family entertainment would be useful, but it is not essential.
What Success Looks Like
Success in this role will be closely connected to the company's commercial growth.
This could include:
- New leads and qualified opportunities generated.
- New customers and commercial partnerships established.
- Growth of the workshop program.
- Increased sales and revenue.
- Development of new sales channels and routes to market.
- A healthy and well managed sales pipeline.
- Stronger commercial processes that the company can continue to build upon.
As the company grows, strong commercial results may create opportunities for increased hours, responsibility and performance based bonuses.
