About Us

Dockside Waves on Dutton is a fish and chips takeaway business located in Walkerston, Queensland. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Retail Store Manager to oversee the daily operations of our business, including retail management, takeaway service coordination, staff supervision, stock control, supplier management and customer service.

The successful applicant will play an important role in maintaining efficient operations, ensuring high standards of food quality and customer service, controlling costs and supporting the continued growth of the business.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage and oversee the daily operations of the retail store and fish and chips takeaway business.
- Plan and coordinate daily activities to ensure effective service, smooth operations and customer satisfaction.
- Supervise employees, allocate duties, prepare staff rosters and monitor staff performance.
- Coordinate takeaway orders, service counter activities and food preparation workflows to ensure timely order fulfilment.
- Oversee the preparation and service of fish, chips and other menu items, ensuring consistent quality and appropriate portion control.
- Monitor compliance with food safety, hygiene, food storage, cleaning and workplace health and safety requirements.
- Monitor stock levels of seafood, potatoes, cooking oil, beverages, packaging and other supplies.
- Coordinate purchasing, liaise with suppliers, negotiate prices where appropriate and ensure the timely delivery of stock.
- Implement inventory control procedures to minimise wastage, spoilage, stock shortages and unnecessary expenses.
- Monitor sales performance and develop strategies to increase revenue,



improve profitability and attract repeat customers.
- Review menu and product pricing, promotional offers and sales activities in line with business objectives.
- Maintain high standards of customer service and resolve customer complaints and enquiries professionally.
- Oversee point-of-sale operations, cash handling, electronic payments and daily sales reconciliation.
- Prepare sales reports, monitor operating expenses and assist with budgeting and financial planning.
- Recruit, train, supervise and motivate employees to maintain productivity and service standards.
- Ensure appropriate staffing levels during busy trading periods and coordinate staff to meet operational requirements.
- Maintain the cleanliness, organisation and presentation of the kitchen, service counter, customer areas and retail premises.
- Monitor equipment condition, arrange maintenance where necessary and ensure appropriate operating procedures are followed.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, reduce costs and increase business performance.
- Maintain positive relationships with customers, suppliers, employees and other stakeholders.
- Report business performance, operational issues and improvement recommendations to the business owner.

Skills and Qualifications

To be considered for this position, applicants should have:

- A relevant Diploma or higher qualification in Retail Management, Business Management, Business Administration or a related discipline.
- At least one year of relevant retail management or supervisory experience.
- Experience managing daily business operations,



supervising staff and coordinating customer service.
- Knowledge of stock control, purchasing, supplier management and inventory procedures.
- Understanding of sales targets, pricing, budgeting and cost control.
- Familiarity with takeaway food service operations and food safety requirements.
- Strong leadership, communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prepare staff rosters, manage competing priorities and make operational decisions.
- Experience with point-of-sale systems, payment processing and basic financial records.
- Ability to work independently and contribute to the profitability and ongoing success of the business.

Previous experience in a fish and chips takeaway, quick-service food business or combined food service and retail environment will be highly regarded.
