Role Summary

The Disability Support Worker provides person-centred support to clients in their own homes and in the community. The role helps clients live independently, stay healthy, and take part in daily life, including medication support, emotional support, appointments, household tasks, and meal preparation.

Key Responsibilities

In-home support

- Cleaning and tidying the home, including kitchen, bathroom, laundry, and living areas
- Preparing nutritious meals, including dinners, and supporting clients with grocery lists and food storage
- Maintaining a safe, clean, and comfortable living setting

Medication and health support

- Prompting and supporting clients with medication routines, in line with the service's medication policy and the worker's training
- Recording medication support and reporting any concerns, changes, or missed doses promptly
- Monitoring wellbeing and escalating health concerns to the appropriate person or emergency services

Community and appointments

- Transporting and accompanying clients to medical, allied health, and other day-to-day appointments




- Supporting clients with shopping, banking, and other errands
- Assisting clients to access community activities, groups, and social outings

Emotional and social support

- Providing companionship, encouragement, and a listening ear
- Supporting clients to build routines, set goals, and stay socially connected
- Responding to emotional distress in a calm, respectful, and person-centred way

Documentation and teamwork

- Completing accurate daily notes, support logs, and incident reports
- Communicating clearly with coordinators, families, and other support staff
- Following all relevant policies on privacy, safety, and client rights

Pay: $26.44 – $57.35 per hour

Expected hours: 5.0 – 20.0 per week

Experience:

- Disability support worker: 1 year (Required)

Licence/Certification:

- Working with Children Check (Required)
