About LX Espresso Cafe

LX Espresso Cafe is an exciting new local cafe coming to Fyshwick, Canberra. We’re passionate about great coffee, fresh food and creating a warm, welcoming experience for every customer.

We’re looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and reliable Barista to join our team and help us build a cafe that our local community will love.

About the Role

As our Barista, you’ll play an important role in delivering consistently excellent coffee and friendly customer service. You’ll take ownership of the coffee station, maintain high standards and contribute to the smooth day-to-day operation of the cafe.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare high-quality espresso coffee, including flat whites, lattes, cappuccinos and other beverages.
- Operate and maintain the espresso machine and coffee grinder.
- Dial in coffee and adjust grind settings to maintain consistent quality.
- Steam and texture milk to a high standard, including alternative milks.
- Deliver friendly, efficient and professional customer service.
- Take customer orders and process payments using the POS system.
- Maintain cleanliness, food safety and hygiene standards.
- Monitor coffee supplies, restock the station and minimise waste.
- Work closely with the kitchen and front-of-house team.
- Assist with general cafe duties when required.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Previous experience working as a barista in a cafe or similar hospitality environment.




- Strong espresso-making skills and a good understanding of coffee extraction and milk texturing.
- The ability to work independently and manage the coffee station confidently.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- A positive attitude, reliability and solid attention to detail.
- The ability to work efficiently during busy service periods.
- A commitment to cleanliness, food safety and teamwork.
- Availability to work an agreed roster of 30–38 hours per week.

Experience with POS systems and basic food preparation will be an advantage.
