About Us

MQ Design Group is an established building design practice specialising in residential developments, town planning and construction documentation across Melbourne.

With a strong pipeline of projects, we are seeking an experienced Architectural Draftsperson with a minimum of 3–5 years' experience to join our growing team.

About the Role

Your primary responsibility will be converting town planning drawings into detailed architectural working drawings ready for engineering coordination and building permit documentation.

We are not simply looking for someone who can draft plans. We need someone who understands the entire transition from town planning approval through to construction documentation and can confidently manage this process independently.

Key Responsibilities

- Convert approved town planning drawings into detailed working drawings using AutoCAD.
- Prepare floor plans, elevations, sections, construction details and other required documentation.
- Prepare and amend town planning drawings when required.
- Ensure drawings comply with the NCC, Victorian Building Regulations and relevant Australian Standards.
- Review planning permits, endorsed plans and permit conditions.
- Coordinate drawings with structural engineers and other consultants.
- Identify and resolve design and construction issues before issuing drawings for engineering.





About You

- Minimum 3–5 years' experience in residential architectural drafting.
- Strong AutoCAD skills are essential.
- Proven experience preparing both town planning and working drawings.
- Experience with townhouses, dual occupancies and multi-unit residential developments.
- Sound understanding of the NCC and Victorian Building Regulations.
- Ability to independently prepare complete working drawing packages.
- Strong attention to detail, organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Building Design (Architectural), or equivalent qualification.

Pay: $78,000.00 – $115,000.00 per year
