About us

3 W Catering Pty Ltd is a Western Sydney hospitality business operating restaurant and café services, including Poppy Cafe at Cabra-Vale and Bistro 1925. We are seeking an experienced, qualified Chef to join our kitchen team on a full time basis.

Key duties

· Plan and prepare food and menus in conjunction with the Head Chef.

· Prepare a range of Western and continental dishes to an à la carte menu, producing quality food in a timely and efficient manner.

· Prepare ingredients and recipes, including portioning, chopping, marinating, seasoning meats, and preparing salads and sauces.

· Order and stock food inventories, receive and check deliveries, rotate stock to avoid spoilage and help control costs and waste.

· Inspect dishes for quality, presentation and palatability.

· Supervise, train and support kitchen hands, junior kitchen staff, trainees and apprentices, including line cooking, food preparation and plating.





· Ensure kitchen staff can safely use and troubleshoot kitchen appliances and equipment.

· Maintain food safety, hygiene, storage and sanitation standards and workplace safety regulations.

· Manage the kitchen team in the Head Chef's absence.

Skills, qualifications and experience

· Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (AQF) or equivalent qualification.

· At least 2 years' experience as a chef in a busy commercial kitchen.

· Knowledge of Australian food safety and hygiene standards.

· Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen and to work rostered shifts including.

· Good communication and teamwork skills.
