For 150 years, Albert Smith Signs family has designed and built signage that defines some of the most recognised corporate brands across Australia and the Asia Pacific. Everything we sell, we manufacture. Most of what we make is bespoke, built for a particular client, site, and purpose.

We’re now in one of the biggest periods of change in our history. We’ve just moved into a new manufacturing and design facility. In the last twelve months we’ve rebuilt our estimating around SolidWorks and moved much of the estimating process to AI. We’re also bringing our Australian, Chinese, and Philippine factories together into one operation serving the whole Asia Pacific region, including New Zealand.

That’s why we need another designer/estimator.

The role

You’ll join an established team of four designers/estimators and work closely with our sales team. You’ll be a key link between what a client wants and what our factories build. You will:

- Turn client briefs into practical, buildable signage designs using SolidWorks
- Prepare accurate estimates using our AI-led estimating process, and help us keep improving it
- Work with sales to scope projects, solve problems, and win work
- Work with production teams across Australia and Asia to make sure designs can be built on time and on budget




- Look for better ways of working and suggest them

About you

This role is not for the faint-hearted. Signage design and manufacturing is demanding, fast-moving and a lot of fun. We’re looking for someone who:

- Has experience in design, estimating, or both, ideally in signage, fabrication, joinery, shopfitting or a related manufacturing field
- Is confident in SolidWorks or another 3D CAD package, or is keen to become so quickly
- Is comfortable with technology and wants to work with AI-driven tools rather than avoid them
- Thinks ahead, takes ownership, and doesn’t wait to be told what to do next
- Takes pride in their work and gets satisfaction from seeing it installed and in use

We’ll give you plenty of support, but we won’t hold your hand. If you like having the freedom to own your work and the backing to do it well, you’ll fit in here.
