We're looking for an experienced Prep & Service Chef to join our busy kitchen team.

This is a hands-on role combining daily food preparation with assisting our kitchen team during lunch service. You'll need to be confident in both areas, organised, efficient and comfortable switching between preparation and cooking during busy periods.

Your Key Responsibilities

Food Preparation

- Complete daily food preparation tasks efficiently and to a consistently high standard.
- Prepare, portion and organise fresh ingredients, meats, vegetables, sauces and other menu components.
- Demonstrate excellent knife skills and safely operate commercial kitchen equipment, including meat and vegetable slicers.
- Follow recipes, preparation procedures and portion-control standards to maintain consistency.
- Ensure all preparation is completed on time and the kitchen is ready for service.

Lunch Service

- Actively assist the kitchen team during busy lunch periods.
- Prepare, cook and plate menu items accurately and efficiently.
- Work across different kitchen stations as required.
- Maintain food quality, presentation and portion consistency during service.
- Communicate effectively with other kitchen staff to ensure orders are prepared correctly and on time.
- Transition smoothly between food preparation and service duties depending on the kitchen's needs.

Kitchen Operations & Food Safety

- Assist with receiving deliveries, stock rotation, stocktakes, labelling and date checking.
- Follow all kitchen Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)



and food safety requirements.
- Complete temperature checks, cleaning schedules and other food safety records.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
- Help minimise food waste through correct preparation, storage and portion control.
- Work as part of the team to maintain the quality and consistency Sheesh Grill is known for.

What We're Looking For

The Key Ingredients:

- Minimum 1 year of experience in a commercial kitchen, preferably in a preparation and cooking role.
- Strong knife skills and confidence using commercial slicers and kitchen equipment.
- Experience working during busy meal services.
- Ability to prepare food efficiently while maintaining high standards.
- Confidence working across both preparation and service stations.
- Good understanding of food safety, hygiene and kitchen procedures.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- A positive attitude, valuable communication skills and a genuine team mentality.
- Reliability, punctuality and pride in your work.
- A passion for preparing and serving great food.

Working Hours

This position is primarily a daytime role, with shifts generally running from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM or 4:00 PM.

You'll spend part of your shift completing daily food preparation and will be expected to actively assist with cooking and kitchen service during our busy lunch periods.
