Head Chef – Restaurant 99 (Comfort Inn Whyalla, SA) Full Time Annual Base Salary: $75,000–$85,000 The M&G; Hotel Group is a proud Australian, family-owned accommodation management business. Restaurant 99 at Comfort Inn Whyalla is seeking an experienced and passionate Head Chef to lead it’s kitchen operations and deliver exceptional dining experiences to the guests. This is a key leadership role suited to a culinary professional with solid technical skills, creativity, and the ability to manage a busy kitchen environment. About the Role The Head Chef will oversee all aspects of kitchen management, ensuring high standards of food quality, safety, and service. You will guide a small team, contribute to menu development, and maintain efficient kitchen operations in line with industry best practice. Key Responsibilities

- Designing seasonal menus and planning daily offerings that align with the restaurant’s style and customer expectations
- Managing stock levels, sourcing ingredients, and forecasting food and labour requirements
- Supervising the preparation, cooking, and presentation of dishes to maintain consistent quality
- Collaborating with management, dietary professionals, and front of house staff to resolve food service matters
- Providing hands on training,



demonstrating cooking methods, and supporting the skill development of kitchen staff
- Ensuring strict adherence to food safety standards and hygiene regulations across all kitchen activities
- Overseeing safe food storage practices, including freezing and preservation processes
- Participating in staff selection and contributing to a positive, productive kitchen culture

Skills & Experience Required

- Minimum 7 years of industry experience in commercial kitchens, including supervisory or senior chef responsibilities
- Diploma in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification; extensive relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications
- Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
- Proven ability to manage kitchen operations, maintain quality standards, and work effectively under pressure
- Sound understanding of food safety legislation and workplace health and safety requirements
