About us

Mayflour Cafe is a well-established local cafe in Westmeadows, known for our specialty cakes and cupcakes, all-day breakfast and quality coffee. We’re busy, and we like it that way, but the pace never comes at the expense of how we treat people. Great food gets customers through the door; great service is what brings them back. We’re looking for experienced floor staff who genuinely enjoy looking after people and want every customer to leave happy.

The role

You’ll be the face of Mayflour. From the moment a customer walks in to the moment they leave, you’ll make sure they feel welcome and looked after. You’ll work closely with our kitchen and barista to keep service fast, friendly and smooth, especially during the rush.

What you’ll do:

- Greet and seat customers warmly, and manage the flow of tables during busy periods
- Take orders accurately, including dietary and allergen requirements
- Know the menu well and recommend dishes, cakes and specials
- Run food and drinks promptly, and check in on tables throughout their visit
- Process payments and handle cash accurately
- Serve takeaway customers and look after the counter and cake cabinet
- Handle complaints calmly and turn them into a positive experience
- Transparent, reset and clean tables quickly to keep service moving
- Help with opening and closing duties, restocking and general cafe tasks




- Communicate clearly with the kitchen and barista so orders come out right and on time

About you

Essential:

- A genuine can-do attitude and a willingness to jump in wherever you’re needed
- Exceptional customer service skills, with a warm and friendly manner
- Easy to get along with, and a natural at building rapport with teammates and regulars
- Open to feedback and keen to learn new skills
- At least 1 year of floor or wait staff experience in a busy cafe or restaurant
- Calm, organised and quick when the cafe is full
- Able to carry multiple plates and stay on your feet for a full shift
- Reliable and punctual
- Available for early starts from 6:00 am, including weekends
- Full working rights in Australia

Desirable:

- Barista or basic coffee-making skills
- POS system experience
- Food Handling certificate
- Good knowledge of common allergens and dietary requirements
