About RepuTex

RepuTex is a leading provider of market intelligence for Australia’s low-carbon transition, delivering independent price assessments, market data and analytics, research and forecasts across Australia's carbon and energy markets.

Our EnergyIQ platform is used daily by Australia's largest commodity traders, financial institutions and energy companies, with clients accounting for over 90% of OTC environmental market trading volumes. EnergyIQ brings together market data, research, forecasts and analytical tools across four core streams: Carbon Markets, Power & Renewables, Energy Transition and Climate Scenarios, supporting trading, investment and risk management decisions across Australia's low-carbon transition.

About the role

We are seeking a Commodities Analyst to join our Markets team, working across commodity pricing, market intelligence and the development of new trading analytics products for Australia's carbon and energy markets.

The role will analyse reported trading activity across spot and derivatives markets to develop independent price assessments, monitor liquidity and price formation, and deliver timely market commentary and insights to large traders and other market participants.

The role will also help drive the development of our market data and analytics capabilities, including forward curves, volatility measures, derivatives analytics and trading tools, with opportunities to develop new analytics products, build relationships with active market participants, and bring new tools to market through our EnergyIQ platform.

Key responsibilities include:

- Analyse spot and derivatives markets, including liquidity, market structure and price formation, to support the publication of price assessments, market data and analytics products.

- Engage directly with commodity traders, brokers and other market participants to gather market intelligence and understand trading activity.

- Prepare regular market commentary, research insights and client briefings explaining price movements, trading trends and underlying market drivers.

- Identify and develop new market data and trading analytics products, such as forward curves, volatility measures,

derivatives analytics and other trading tools for market participants.

- Work with our technology and data teams to develop and enhance market data products and analytical tools within EnergyIQ.

About you

We are looking for someone with strong analytical skills, an understanding of financial markets and an interest in commodity trading and pricing.

You may already have experience in commodity trading, market risk, derivatives, market data or financial analysis, and be looking for an opportunity to broaden your responsibilities across market intelligence and analytics / tool development.

Alternatively, you may be an early-career analyst or graduate with a strong foundation in financial mathematics and quantitative analysis.

Ideally, you will bring:

- A degree in finance, economics, mathematics, statistics, commerce or a related discipline.

- Strong knowledge of financial markets and traded instruments, particularly forwards, futures, options and other derivatives, along with an understanding of how market analytics support trading and risk management decisions.

- Strong numerical and analytical skills, with confidence working with market data and pricing information.

- Advanced Excel skills, with Python or other analytical programming experience highly regarded.

- Strong written communication skills, including the ability to explain market developments and pricing trends clearly and accurately.

- An interest in carbon and environmental commodity markets, including their role in Australia's energy transition, decarbonisation investment and physical hedging.

- An interest in developing new market data and analytics products, translating trading and market requirements into practical analytical tools.

Experience in energy, carbon or other commodity markets,

including trading or price assessment experience, will be highly regarded, but is not essential.

We welcome applications from experienced analysts seeking greater responsibility, as well as exceptional graduates with strong quantitative and financial markets skills. The scope and seniority of the role will reflect the successful candidate's experience, with the advertised salary range indicative only.
