Collectively, Victoria's Supreme, County, Magistrates', Children's, and Coroners courts, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT), the Judicial College of Victoria, the Judicial Commission of Victoria, and Court Services Victoria (CSV) are referred to as the ‘Courts Group'.
Our people enable the Courts Group to deliver on each jurisdiction's own strategic priorities while also pursuing strategic opportunities that are interconnected and deliver benefits more broadly.
About the Judicial Commission
Join a small, high-performing team working at the heart of Victoria's judicial integrity framework. The Commission is a collaborative and collegiate workplace where each contribution is valued and wellbeing is prioritised.
The Commission plays a critical role in promoting public confidence in the courts and VCAT by guiding the standards of conduct of judicial officers. Chaired by the Chief Justice of Victoria,
the Commission is responsible for investigating complaints about judicial officers, including magistrates, judges and VCAT members.
About the Role
Working closely with a senior lawyer and manager, you will investigate complaints about judicial officers, provide high-quality advice and recommendations, prepare draft investigation reports and Board papers, and contribute to complex and sensitive investigations. The role also involves legal research and stakeholder engagement supporting the Commission's strategic priorities and functions.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- At least 3 years' post-admission legal experience.
- Strong legal research, analytical and drafting skills.
- Sound judgment and the ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Experience in criminal or civil litigation, regulatory, administrative or public law environments.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to working with colleagues and stakeholders.
Why Join Us?
We offer flexible working arrangements, including consideration of full time and part-time applicants, a supportive and collaborative team workplace, and ongoing professional development opportunities.
Our office space features modern facilities and end-of-trip amenities to support active commuting and wellbeing.
