Lead the people behind public safety in Australian healthcare

Every registered health practitioner in Australia is regulated through the National Scheme, and the people who make that system work have to be chosen well. This is your chance to own how Ahpra attracts, assesses and appoints them, from its own workforce through to the statutory and Board appointments that hold the Scheme together.

About the role

Sitting within People Strategy & Reform, you'll lead Ahpra's enterprise talent acquisition, workforce sourcing and statutory appointments functions. You'll set the strategy, operating model, governance and systems that deliver merit-based, transparent and compliant appointments across permanent, contingent and governance cohorts.

Leading a team of specialist managers, including the Recruitment Manager and Manager, Statutory Appointments, you'll bring both functions together into one cohesive service. You'll also be Ahpra's principal adviser on talent and appointments, working directly with the National Executive, senior leaders and National Board Chairs.

What you'll do

- Shape and lead the enterprise talent acquisition and appointments strategy, including critical capability pipelines and the employee value proposition
- Build governance frameworks, policies and delegations that meet legislative, probity and merit requirements, and stand up to audit and scrutiny
- Advise executives and Board Chairs on workforce supply risks, market conditions and sensitive or high-profile appointments
- Drive the direction of recruitment technology, reporting and data, including the smart use of analytics and AI
- Manage enterprise supplier relationships, panel arrangements, and vendor governance
- Lead the development of an integrated operating model across recruitment and statutory appointments, with clear accountabilities, service expectations, and specialist ownership

- Lead and develop a high-performing, multidisciplinary team through a culture of service, innovation and accountability

What you'll bring

- Extensive experience leading talent acquisition or workforce functions in complex organisations, across multiple workforce streams
- A robust track record running governance, statutory or public appointment processes with high levels of probity and scrutiny
- Expertise in executive search, senior leadership recruitment and/or Board appointments
- Experience building recruitment governance, risk and compliance frameworks in regulated or government environments
- Proven ability to lead leaders and influence senior executives and governance bodies with trusted, evidence-based advice
- Experience leading talent elements of organisational transformation, such as skills mapping, succession planning and change management
- Comfort with ambiguity, competing priorities and political sensitivity
- Tertiary qualifications in HR, Business, Public Administration or a related field

Why Ahpra?

You'll do work that matters: helping protect the public by making sure the right people are in the right roles across the National Scheme.
