Stuck on one slice of the job?

At a lot of big firms you get roads, or you get earthworks, and that’s you for the next few years. Or you’re parked in contract admin and can’t remember the last thing you designed. You never see a job through.

This one’s different. You’d be a generalist. You design the subdivision, then you go out and run the contract while it gets built. Front end to delivery. Nobody here gets to year five as a contract administrator who’s never designed anything.

The work is land development across SEQ. Some of it is big multi-stage stuff, whole suburbs. The rest is small-lot work, one lot into two, or six to ten townhouses. DA and OPW both.

Those small jobs are how you learn. You take one start to finish with someone backing you. After 10 or 15 of them you know the whole process inside out.

Stormwater and flooding are done in-house, and so is traffic, so you see how the full solution fits together. And work isn’t the problem. They’ve got more than they can handle.

It’s a small, technical team who like being on the tools, the boss included. They’re there because they like the work. It’s flat,



you work with whichever lead is running the job, and they’d rather you back yourself and ask questions than follow a rigid system.

Quality is taken seriously though. RPEQ checks, proper design and drafting checklists, and the tricky jobs get a boardroom review. You learn properly that way.

It’s an office job. Open plan, everyone talking. If you want work from home, this isn’t it.

Real rewards (not just competitive). There’s an annual profit share split on merit, and the place runs with an employee-owned mindset.

You’ll be 1-5 years out with consulting civil design behind you, and you’ll want the design and the contract admin, not one or the other. Stormwater design and SMPs would be outstanding. Know your way around the SEQ Water and Sewer Design Code, and basic AutoCAD and QGIS is plenty. If you’ve only worked construction-side, or you’re changing careers, it’s probably not the one.
