They are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Melbourne on a permanent basis.The Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:At least 2 years' experience in a Mechanical Design Engineering positionPrevious experience designing parts for heavy vehicles, trucks, trailers or similar equipmentHighly skilled with 3D CAD, ideally SolidWorks, Inventor or similarExperience designing fabricated components,



sheet metal and structural steelGood understanding of mechanical design principles and manufacturing processesExperience producing detailed engineering and manufacturing drawingsStrong practical and hands-on approach to designExperience working closely with manufacturing and fabrication teamsAble to manage multiple projects and work to deadlinesAble to maintain technical documentation and BOMsAble to work well individually as well as part of a teamThe Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve:Using 3D CAD for concept design, modelling and technical drawingsDesigning components and assemblies for heavy vehicles and equipmentProducing detailed engineering and manufacturing drawingsDeveloping and updating 3D models and engineering designsWorking closely with manufacturing and fabrication teamsLiaising with suppliers and external manufacturing providersCreating and maintaining BOMs and technical documentationSupporting the full design process from concept through to productionAssisting with prototype builds, testing and final assemblyChecking designs and drawings prior to manufactureWorking in a small, multi-disciplinary team on wide-ranging engineering projects
