About the RoleThe overall purpose of the Youth Worker, Residential Care is to provide care and/or support to children and young people in out of home care and/or living within at-risk families.
The care and support provided by Youth Workers will enhance opportunities for the young person to participate in age-appropriate activities, support the development of positive self-regard, encourage community inclusion, strengthen relationships with family of origin, and contribute to placement stability.This role involves being the primary caregiver during shift, ensuring the safety of young people in care, and imparting essential life skills to establish consistent routines.
Collaborating with the Coordinator and Service Manager, you'll help develop trauma-informed interventions for these young people with complex needs.What a day in the life of a Residential Youth Worker looks like:Planning and engaging in meaningful activities with the young person.Being a vital part of a cohesive team, dedicated to helping young people achieve their personal goals.Promoting good hygiene and nutrition.Maintaining daily case notes, handling administrative tasks, and preparing incident reports.Permanent Part-Time rates starting at $***** per hour (excluding allowances).




Current Opportunities Expression of Interest - Permanent Part-Time Residential Youth WorkersAnglicare Southern Queensland is seeking Expressions of Interest from passionate and dedicated Youth Workers interested in current and future Permanent Part time opportunities within our Residential Care services.As a Residential Youth Worker, you will provide therapeutic, trauma-informed care and support to children and young people living in Out of Home Care.
You will play a key role in creating safe, nurturing environments that promote wellbeing, positive development, and meaningful connections.Successful applicants will be considered for a range of Permanent Part-Time vacancies across our Residential Care programs, with contracted hours, locations, and roster arrangements varying based on operational requirements.Availability to work a rotating roster, including day, evening, weekend, sleepover, and/or awake overnight shifts, is essential.
Shift times, work locations, and roster patterns may vary in line with service needs and school holiday periods.If you are committed to supporting children and young people to achieve positive outcomes and thrive in a safe and supportive environment, we encourage you to submit an Expression of Interest.Qualifications, Credentials and Other RequirementsA Certificate IV or higher qualification in Child, Youth & Family Intervention, Youth Services, Community Services, or a related fieldCurrent Blue Card (Working with Children's Check QLD) Current Licensed Care Service (LCS)Completion of Hope and Healing Framework trainingCurrent Queensland Driver LicenceThe ability to provide two recent referee reports from supervisorsAvailability to work day, evening and weekend shifts, including sleepovers or awake shifts, is essential for current operational needs.
