As our business continues to grow, we are looking for a highly capable and commercially minded experienced senior Engineer to step into a key leadership role, working closely with the Managing Director to drive our technical and commercial success.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced and well-rounded Engineer who holds RPEQ status and possesses a strong background in manufacturing and fabrication. This is a dynamic role that goes beyond just engineering; it requires exceptional business acumen, team leadership, and technical sales expertise.

You will be responsible for running a cross-functional team of junior engineers, drafters, and technical sales personnel, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, profitably, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

- Team Leadership & HR: Manage, mentor, and develop a small, dedicated team of junior engineers, drafters, and technical sales staff. Handle day-to-day team operations and performance management.

- Engineering Oversight: Lead technical problem-solving, oversee manufacturing and fabrication processes, and ensure all engineering output meets RPEQ standards.

- Technical Sales & Business Development: Drive business growth by identifying new opportunities, managing client relationships, and utilising technical sales strategies to secure contracts.





- Commercial & Financial Management: Apply robust business acumen to oversee project budgets, commercial negotiations, and overall financial performance of the engineering department.

- Strategic Collaboration: Work directly with executive leadership to align engineering operations with the company’s broader business and commercial objectives.

Requirements:

- Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, post graduate MEM or MBA highly regarded.

- Accreditation: Current RPEQ status is mandatory.

- Industry Experience: Extensive 10+ years hands-on background in manufacturing and fabrication environments.

- Leadership: Proven experience managing, mentoring, and leading technical teams.

- Commercial Acumen: Demonstrated capability in business management, encompassing commercial, financial, HR, and BDM disciplines.

- Sales Skills: Strong track record in technical sales, client relationship management, and business development within the engineering sector.

- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts to commercial clients.
