Turn your potential into community impact
Start your career with hands-on experience across Blacktown City Council as a Graduate Engineer from mid-February 2027. Through structured rotations across engineering functions, you see how infrastructure is planned, delivered and maintained to support one of Australia’s fastest-growing communities.
You complete site inspections, assist with engineering investigations and collect information on Council assets and infrastructure. You analyse technical data, prepare reports and documentation, review plans and specifications, and support the delivery of capital works and maintenance projects. You work with engineers, contractors, consultants and internal stakeholders to help deliver infrastructure improvements and maintain essential community assets.
Your work contributes to safer roads, reliable infrastructure and well-maintained public spaces that residents use every day. Each rotation gives you practical experience across different engineering disciplines while building skills in project delivery, technical analysis, problem-solving and stakeholder engagement.
This opportunity suits a recent graduate who enjoys understanding how things work, solving practical problems and seeing the results of their work in the community.
You must have completed a relevant engineering degree by the commencement date or within the last 2 years and bring robust analytical, communication and problem-solving skills.
At Blacktown City Council, good people make great teams, and great teams build great cities. Here, you will find the stability and support to keep growing, along with:
- a term contract, full-time role for up to 2 years with one of Australia's largest councils
- an entry level salary commencing at $1,750.90 per week
- a 35-hour working week
- access to Council's flextime arrangement
- 12% superannuation and competitive leave entitlements
- ongoing training and development support
- access to Fitness Passport, social clubs and wellbeing programs.
